Honoring Heroes Through Green Spaces: Volunteers Needed for “A Grateful Embrace”
A Grateful Embrace – sponsored by the Ohio Lawn Care Association – honors our nation’s fallen heroes by caring for the sacred grounds where they rest.
Honoring heroes is something the green industry has always supported and Project EverGreen is proud to support the Ohio Lawn Care Association’s annual A Grateful Embrace event – a day dedicated to honoring our nation’s fallen heroes by caring for the sacred grounds where they rest.
On Saturday, November 8, volunteers will gather at Dayton National Cemetery and Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery in Rittman to fertilize and maintain more than 160 acres of turf. This collective effort ensures that these national resting places remain beautiful, healthy, and green – a living tribute to those who gave all.
How to Get Involved
Volunteers are needed to help spread fertilizer, operate blowers and spreaders, and provide hands-on care to the grounds. Participants are encouraged to bring their teams and, if possible, contribute five bags of fertilizer to support the effort.

A Shared Mission of Service
A Grateful Embrace reflects the same spirit that drives Project EverGreen’s GreenCare for Troops program – connecting landscape and snow care professionals with military families across the country to provide complimentary lawn and landscape services. Together, we honor those who serve by caring for the green spaces that bring comfort, pride, and beauty to their lives and communities.
