Project EverGreen and the Joining Forces Initiative

In April 2012, Project EverGreen and its GreenCare for Troops initiative was recognized by former First Lady Michelle Obama and current First Lady Dr. Jill Biden as one of 20 honorees in the Joining Forces Community Challenge, an effort to recognize and celebrate citizens, communities, and organizations who have demonstrated a deep commitment to service by improving the lives of military families and veterans.

Project EverGreen’s GreenCare for Troops was one of more than 300 organizations to submit their stories – inspiring stories about extraordinary Americans going the extra mile to show their support and appreciation for our troops and families.

Project EverGreen was also a participant in a roundtable discussion with Michelle Obama about how communities can better support military families in the United States.

Joining Forces 2.0

In April 2021, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden announced she is rebooting the Joining Forces Initiative and will focus on the following areas: Employment and Entrepreneurship; Military Child Education; and Health and Well-Being.

Project EverGreen and GreenCare for Troops look forward to engaging with the new initiative and continuing its mission to help military families reduce the stress brought on by a deployment and creating healthier, greener and cooler yards for them to enjoy.
