Military families - Project EverGreen

HERE’S WHAT MILITARY FAMILIES NEED TO KNOW ABOUT REGISTERING FOR SERVICES FROM GREENCARE AND SNOWCARE FOR TROOPS.

PLEASE READ ALL INFORMATION ON THIS PAGE BEFORE REGISTERING.

THIS IS A NEEDS BASED PROGRAM FOR ACTIVE-DUTY DEPLOYED SERVICE MEMBERS. This includes all military branches as well as Reserve and Guard Forces. Only one residence is permitted and the military member must reside at this location. Lot size must be less than 1 acre. Deployment orders or letter from command verifying deployment are required for registration. Do not register more than four (4) weeks in advance of your deployment. Veterans or disabled veterans should read information below.

  1. Who can fill out the registration?
Any family member, significant other or friend may register on the military member’s behalf. The email and phone number required will be used by the program manager for correspondence. Please make sure the person you choose will relay pertinent information to you.
  2. What services are offered?
Mowing, trimming shrubs/bushes/hedges, aeration, fertilizing/weed control, perimeter pest control, mosquito control, fire ant control, spring clean-up, fall/leaf clean-up, and snow removal — although not every volunteer will offer every service.
  3. What does it cost?
Lawn, landscape and snow removal services are provided free of charge by our program volunteers. Our volunteers absorb all of the cost of providing service to a military family. We suggest a thank you card or email to let them know you appreciate their support.
  4. How do I know if there is a volunteer in my area?
GCFT/SCFT are nationwide programs. We operate in all 50 states. You must register with the program before a volunteer match can be determined. Volunteer matches are based on zip code and services requested. If we have an available volunteer in your area, the name of the volunteer and their email and phone number will appear on your computer screen. If we don’t currently have an available volunteer, we’ll alert you via email once one becomes available. Once matched with a volunteer, it is the military family’s responsibility to contact the volunteer and make arrangements for service. We ask that you make at least 4 attempts to contact your volunteer (2 phone calls & 2 emails). If for any reason your volunteer cannot assist you, please notify the program manager at 888-611-2955.
  5. How long does the service last?
Service is provided for the entire length of the deployment. If a deployment is extended or ends early, military families need to contact the program manager.
  6. What documents are required to register?
Deployment orders are required for registration. Name, rank and deployment dates must be listed. Social Security numbers or other sensitive information is not required and should be blacked out before submission. We will also accept a letter from command verifying name, rank and deployment dates.
