Project EverGreen Announces Band Blitz for the Military Fundraiser

Band Blitz for the Military Will Be Held August 29 in Shakopee, Minnesota

“We are excited to partner with VFW Post 4046 to bring the Band Blitz for the Military to Shakopee. A military family has enough to worry about while a loved one is deployed in active service. Through GreenCare for Troops, lawn care is one less thing they must deal with, and the proceeds from this terrific concert will help make those services possible. And it’s totally free to the military family.”

Band Blitz for the Military, a fundraiser benefiting Project EverGreen’s GreenCare for Troops and the Shakopee, Minnesota VFW Post 4046, will be held on August 29 from 6 – 10:30 p.m. at Canterbury Park in Shakopee. Because of current requirements for large gatherings, only 250 tickets are available. Ticket prices are $10 in advance and $15 at the door, if available.

The event is sponsored by Project EverGreen’s GreenCare for Troops initiative, which offers free lawn care and landscape services for families of deployed military personnel. Co-sponsoring the event is the Shakopee VFW Post 4046 that will use proceeds from the concert to support the post’s ongoing activities to benefit military members.

“We are excited to partner with VFW Post 4046 to bring the Band Blitz for the Military to Shakopee,” says Cindy Code, executive director of Project EverGreen. “A military family has enough to worry about while a loved one is deployed in active service. Through GreenCare for Troops, lawn care is one less thing they must deal with, and the proceeds from this terrific concert will help make those services possible. And it’s totally free to the military family.”

The opening act is popular local band Little Chicago, followed by featured band the Shane Martin Band, a Top 5 Finalist in the Texaco Country Showdown where he competed for “Best New Act in Country Music” at Nashville’s legendary Ryman Auditorium (hosted by LeAnn Rimes).

Shane Martin Band has shared the stage with numerous national acts and performed at some of the top country music festivals with their infectious, high energy freewheeling style.  Currently one of the top live draws throughout the Midwest, Martin’s unique country rock vibe is perfectly described “teetering edge of country, pop and rock where it’s just dangerous enough to be fun!”

“The members of VFW Post 4046 are pleased to join with Project EverGreen to safely offer Shakopee area residents a great night of music under the stars while supporting our post’s ongoing efforts to help military families,” says John Muir, VFW Post 4046 post commander. “During these challenging times, we are more aware than ever of the importance of our military at home and abroad, and we hope area residents come to the concert and show their support for our most deserving military families.”

Sponsors for the event include Bremer Bank, Budweiser, Canterbury Park, FLM Harvest, Gardner & Gardner Communications, GIE Media, HJ Development, MTI, Southbridge Crossing, The Toro Co. and Weed Man.

Raffle tickets for Toro lawn equipment will be available for sale at the show, and proceeds will go to support the efforts of both sponsoring organizations.
