Dave and Jami Petti have been dedicated volunteers for over five years but volunteering through Project EverGreen isn’t the only way they give back.

Five years ago, the couple discovered Project EverGreen through the internet and have helped over six families since becoming a volunteer.

“After learning more about the history of the program and the valuable services it provides to active military families my wife and I knew we wanted to do our part,” says Dave.

Their company, Turf Pride Lawn Care in Mentor, Ohio (where Project EverGreen’s national office is located) offers pest control, tree trunk care, and fertilizing which has been a major help to many families.

The Pettis’ have truly gone above and beyond as volunteers by being involved in both GreenCare and SnowCare for Troops. “We wanted to be involved in both programs because we wanted to be able to decrease stress for military families in any way possible,” says Dave.

Giving back is something that is extremely important to the Petti’s, which is why they initially became a Project EverGreen volunteer, but their volunteer work goes much further.

They have volunteered their time at Arlington National Cemetery, The Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery and locally at the Marine Corps League by donating fertilizer.

Petti explains that, “Giving back to military based organizations is important to us because they risk their lives to protect us every single day. Volunteering is the least that we can do to show our appreciation.”

The couple’s advice for anyone thinking of becoming a GreenCare of SnowCare for Troops volunteer – don’t hesitate, if you are thinking about it then do it, you could change someone’s life.

By giving just an hour a week of time to give back to your own community and to help others in need can make a major difference in their lives.
