“I’ve met a ton of families, spouses, and children, and it’s really great knowing that I am relieving some of the stress on a deployed soldier who needs to be focused on their work when they’re away from home.”

Michael Sullivan, Easy Go Lawn Care

Michael Sullivan, a former Marine turned lawn care professional, was single and living on base while he was on active duty. Lawn care and landscape maintenance was the furthest thing from his mind back then, but these days he’s not only operating a successful business, Easy Go Lawn Care, he’s actively helping military families through the GreenCare For Troops program.

Easy Go Lawn Care’s Michael Sullivan recalls being approached to sign up for GreenCare for Troops in March 2017 and it didn’t take long for him to get matched up with military families in need.

Based in Bloomington, Indiana, Sullivan recalls being approached to sign up for the program in March 2017. It didn’t take long for him to get matched up with military families in need.

“I’ve met a ton of families, spouses, and children, and it’s really great knowing that I am relieving some of the stress on a deployed soldier who needs to be focused on their work when they’re away from home,” says Sullivan.

He provides all the basics, including mowing, fertilizer, weed control, seeding, and aeration.

Sullivan recently got an opportunity to go above and beyond for one of his military families that was moving to Muncie, more than two hours north and outside of his service zone.

“Taking it on would have put a wrench into my work schedule,” he recalls. “I checked in with GreenCare for Troops and unfortunately, there wasn’t anyone in the area where this family was moving.”

Sullivan took the matter into his own hands, putting a message out on his Facebook personal and business pages looking for professional volunteers to serve the family in their new home. The result? Three new volunteers signed up for the GreenCare for Troops program.

Sullivan believes we should all do our best to remember and help those who sacrifice so much for our country.

“It seems we have way too many distractions, and we forget that there are still men and women risking their lives for our country,” adds Sullivan.
