For Jon Hubacek, owner of Hub Landscape and Lawn Care, Inc, in Blue Ridge, Illinois, working in the green industry has served to satisfy his lifelong enjoyment of serving people. But as a kid, it started as an escape from a challenging home life.

“I took it upon myself and learned to do work that would take me outdoors,” says Hubacek. “I was that neighborhood kid at eight years old, knocking on doors for work cutting grass, stringing Christmas lights, pushing my mower around town.”

Through his teens he worked in other service businesses as well but returned to landscape industry in 2007 working for a local landscape company. In 2011, he decided to strike out on his own and started Hub Landscape and Lawn Care which focuses on caring for the lawns and landscapes and removing snow for residential clients.

Despite the scope limitations of a two-person operation, Hubacek is a passionate supporter of Project EverGreen’s GreenCare and SnowCare for Troops programs and the mission to serve our military heroes overseas. In 2019 he provided snow removal and lawn care for two families, and each expressed tremendous gratitude.

“It was very humbling to know that, coming from to where I was to where I am, that I was able to give back to these families of actively deployed soldiers,” says Hubacek.

This winter, he’s looking forward to extending his service to those toiling on the front lines of the pandemic response after volunteering to participate in the SnowCare for Troops Cares for our HealthCare Heroes program, sponsored by Project EverGreen and supported by BOSS Snowplow.

“At the end of the day, being of service to those making such tremendous sacrifices is the least I can do,” says Hubacek.

During these challenging times, the need is greater than ever to help our fellow Americans who are serving on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. As winter approaches, there will be a need to assist our healthcare professionals and first responders serving on the front lines with snow removal services and Project EverGreen’s SnowCare for Troops program is ready to help.

SnowCare for Troops Cares for Our Healthcare Heroes Program

Project EverGreen, along with program sponsor BOSS Snowplow, announces the formation of the SnowCare for Troops Cares for Our Healthcare Heroes program.

To participate, SnowCare for Troops volunteers are asked to nominate frontline healthcare professionals in their community to receive snow and ice removal services. Volunteers are encouraged to identify potential recipients through neighborhood groups, school or church groups or social media. The expanded program will run through April 1, 2021.

Once an individual or family has been identified and parameters of service established, SnowCare for Troops volunteers are asked to provide the name, address and list of services provided to Project EverGreen for its database to ensure they are properly matched in the database.
