The Stuebs twins started J.A.R. Landscaping in 2017 at just 18 years-old. Their hope was to create a landscaping company with “friendly services and convenient prices” to bring the gift of green spaces to those who struggle with up-keeping their own yards.

Abbigail and Jaqueline Stuebs, twins from Athens, Illinois are currently fulltime students at Southern Illinois University Carbondale as well as GreenCare for Troops volunteers who are going above and beyond the call of duty.

However, they not only wanted to leave their mark through landscaping, they also wanted to leave a lasting impact on their community and those around them.

When they started their company, they discovered Project EverGreen’s GreenCare for Troops through social media and knew that it was the perfect program for them, offering them the opportunity to volunteer for a good cause to give back to our active-duty military personnel.

The Stuebs sisters understand the difficulties that come from serving our country. Their uncle is a partially disabled Air Force veteran who taught them to show respect for those who have given up so much for our country.

“Even by being a small company, we can be a part of something much larger,” says Abbigail. “GreenCare for Troops means more than just mowing a lawn. It means giving back to those who have impacted our lives in such a tremendous way. Something as little as mowing a lawn gives more of an impact than one might think.”

And the twins have truly seen the positive effect their efforts are having.

“We have seen that the families we are helping out now have a worry-free lawn,” says Jacqueline.

Even with their busy schedules, the sisters were yearning to do even more to help the families of our currently deployed heroes. Shortly after registering for GreenCare for Troops, J.A.R Landscaping also joined a program called Adopt A US Soldier, which allows for people to send letters and packages to deployed soldiers.

After promoting their involvement with both GreenCare for Troops and Adopt A US Soldier, the Stuebs realized how many people wanted to contribute to the causes.

J.A.R. Landscaping hosted a quarter auction in July to support our troops and raise awareness and money for both programs. The Stuebs wanted to, “show people that giving back to our troops is important.”

The auction was the perfect fit for both the sisters and the community because it raised money for our military heroes, promoted GreenCare for Troops and Adopt A US Soldier and gave community members and local businesses the opportunity to get involved. The money raised from the auction was donated to Project EverGreen and spent on items to send in packages to our troops overseas, including hygiene products, non-perishable foods, entertainment items and sports equipment.

J.A.R Landscaping loves being able to volunteer for GreenCare for Troops and is proud to give back to the community, which is truly represented in their dedication to do more for the GreenCare for Troops program.
