Fundraisers Support Project EverGreen Mission
Band Blitz VII and Project EverGreen Golf Classic Support the Mission
“The important roll green spaces play in providing communities and military families with vital physical and mental health benefits, in addition to creating bonds of community and positive environmental health are what drives Project EverGreen’s mission.”

Research has shown a correlation between green spaces, improved air quality and carbon sequestration, reduced heat buildup and lower cooling costs. Access to green spaces has also been shown to lower blood pressure, reduce stress, improve attention levels, and reduce feelings of fear and anger in both adults and children. They also foster closer-knit communities and improve the overall well-being of residents.
Project EverGreen’s mission received a financial boost with a pair of annual fundraisers that raised more than $40,000 to further ongoing efforts.
“The important roll green spaces play in providing communities and military families with vital physical and mental health benefits, in addition to creating bonds of community and positive environmental health are what drives Project EverGreen’s mission,” said Cindy Code, executive director of Project EverGreen. “Participants and sponsors of both the golf classic and Band Blitz have helped us move the mission forward and we thank them for it.”
Band Blitz VII on August 26 in Buffalo, Minnesota when more than 125 people came out for an evening of good music, food, and friendship to support Project EverGreen’s GreenCare for Troops initiative. The event, co-sponsored by the Buffalo (MN) American Legion, featured several popular local bands and prize raffles. Sponsors for the event include Buffalo American Legion, 21st Century Bank, CorTrust Bank, Mid-Country Bank, Bremer Bank, Coborn’s, Connie Herzog/Coldwell Banker Realty, HJ Development, Gardner & Gardner Communications, GIE Media, Weed Man and The Toro Company.
That was followed on September 18 by the 2nd annual Project EverGreen Golf Classic teed off in Cary, North Carolina that attracted more than 50 golfers and 34 sponsors.
The combined passion Project EverGreen volunteers and donors have for golf and the great outdoors resulted in an exciting day on the course and at the awards reception following the round. The winning foursome from SiteOne Landscape Supply turned in a 14-under scorecard and skill shot winners included longest drive (Julie Setlak, Envu), closest to the pin (Kevin Laycock, SiteOne Landscape Supply and Paul Fox, Atticus) and longest putt (Teddy Lupton).
About GreenCare for Communities
Parks, lawns, landscapes and maintained green spaces help to mitigate temperature increases in communities and significantly reduce energy use and cooling costs. Project EverGreen’s initiatives – GreenCare for Communities and GreenCare for Troops – have made a significant impact.
Through its nationwide base of professional volunteers, Project EverGreen has connected people, plants and their communities to maximize the health of grass, plants and trees, which in turn sequesters carbon and cleans the air. Both initiatives support healthy green spaces in neighborhoods and cities, enabling maintained green spaces to function as the lungs of the city and offsetting the negative effects of a warming environment.
A single group or individual cannot transform lawns, landscapes and parks but Project EverGreen’s coalition of businesses and individuals helps maintain green spaces so they can thrive.
