The GreenCare and SnowCare for Troops programs stretch from sea to shining sea helping the families of deployed military personnel with lawn care, landscape maintenance and snow removal.

In November, 28 new families registered for services and Project EverGreen was successful in matching nearly 70 percent of families requesting services. But we need your help to further our mission.

The GreenCare and SnowCare for Troops programs stretch from sea to shining sea helping the families of deployed military personnel with lawn care, landscape maintenance and snow removal.

Since the programs’ inceptions in 2006 and 2010, respectively, thousands of military families have registered and received services from dedicated volunteers who are looking to give back to their communities and provide relief and peace of mind during what is a typically stressful time.

Mark Aquilino, president of Outdoor Pride Landscaping in Manchester, New Hampshire, a dual GreenCare and SnowCare for Troops volunteer since 2018, says helping military families is an assignment many employees in his office are more than happy to take on.

Jolene and Michael Johnson of Manchester, New Hampshire, were facing a world of uncertainty and stress ahead of Michael’s Army deployment in late 2018.

“These guys love to get out and help, and there’s a lot of pride for whoever gets to do it — to be able to genuinely help somebody and know you are making a difference is outstanding,” says Aquilino.

How far reaching are the programs impact across the United States?

  • In Virginia where there is a significant military installation presence, more than 1,000 military families have registered for GreenCare for Troops since 2012.
  • More than 1,000 military families in Ohio have received services from one of the programs since their inceptions.
  • In Nebraska, 467 families living near Offutt Air Force Base outside of Omaha have been the recipient of these valuable services since 2012.

”It’s important to have volunteers available year round for our military families, says Ki Matsko, program director for GreenCare and SnowCare for Troops “When a military member registers with a June deployment date, they have the peace of mind that come winter, their family will be taken care of, and the same goes for someone with a January deployment. They know their family will have their lawn taken care in the spring and relieving that concern for a deploying military member is priceless.”

GreenCare for Troops marks its 13th year and has seen more than 11,000 military families register to receive an estimated $8 million in donated lawn care and landscape services from more than 6,000 green industry professionals.

Do you want to help us provide service to the other 30 percent of military families who have a loved one currently deployed and are asking for assistance?

Registering is simple and easy, and can be done online on the project page of the Project EverGreen website
