Location: Main & State St., Akron, OH

Community Impact: Our 2008 efforts culminated with the massive renovation of a blighted public green space. To pull off this massive project, Project EverGreen brought together local Akron contractors, City of Akron and public works officials, and the people of Akron, including 300 volunteers from the JCC Maccabi Games (an annual international Olympic-style, athletic, cultural and social event that has united Jewish teens).

The newly designed green space serves as home to bocce courts, cornhole and many other fun activities. Volunteers completely overhauled the park, creating a permanent and tangible reminder of the benefits of green spaces and the EverGreen Zone initiative.
