Project EverGreen’s Five Ways to Enjoy Summer # 5 – Be Active
“I believe a leaf of grass is no less than the journey-work of the stars.” – Walt Whitman
Are you looking for a way to create a greener, healthier, cooler Earth in your community this summer? Project EverGreen has five easy-to-do ideas that you, your company and employees can act on that will not only benefit your community but you as well.
What are Project EverGreen’s five ways to celebrate a greener, healthier, cooler Earth this summer?
1. Volunteer (May 16)
2. Plant Some Grass (May 30)
3. Green Your Community (June 21)
4. Negate Heat (July 11)
5. Be Active (August 8)
As we drag ourselves through the heat and humidity of the dog days of summer, it can be a chore to get out of the air conditioning and stay active. Project EverGreen wants to change that and make sure enjoy summer and also help create a greener, cooler, healthier Earth.
Greener communities promote physical activity, social harmony, community pride and ownership, individual expression and creativity, and improve mental health. Many community activities and youth programs take place in green areas such as schools, sports fields, and parks which provide the foundation for us to work, live, and play.
Close and connected green spaces provide cooler, cleaner air throughout the site, neighborhood and the city. Green spaces act as protection against Earth’s toughest challenges while providing significant health benefits with regards to temperature, quality of air, water and in turn our lives.
So resist the temptation to stay inside this summer. Put some sun screen on, make sure you have plenty of water and get outside!
