Over the next several weeks we will explore five ways to join the greener, healthier, cooler Earth movement and make your spring and summer rewarding for you and your community.

# 1 – Volunteer

Want to do something that makes you feel good? It’s likely something you do each and every day but this time it’s different. It’s because it’s done on your own time, of your own accord and for totally unselfish reasons. Volunteer!

Sign up to share your time and talents for those who can’t do for themselves. Project EverGreen’s Green Care for Troops™ program is a wonderful opportunity to put your skills and resources to good work. Whether it is helping families of deployed military personnel or disabled veterans, your time and talent make you the perfect volunteer.

You don’t have to look too far to find a military family whose head of household is deployed, leaving only one person at home to do the work of two. Project EverGreen has a list of families who can use your expertise and it won’t take up an immense amount of your time or impact your other customers.

You can register to stop by and mow the lawn once a week. You’re already in the neighborhood taking care of other properties so what’s one more? Trim the bushes a couple times a year and edge the sidewalk. Do a fall cleanup of the yard. The skills you use every day without thinking twice about it would be such a significant help to that family.

How do you get in touch with a military family or veteran who needs your help? Visit the GreenCare for Troops page and register today – you won’t regret it.
